If I go into a coma, please don't let them use a catheter.

When I was a child, one of the many times my mom took me to CHEO they did a procedure on my penis. I was told afterwards that they pierced my urethra.

I started peeing blood. Rhona, who was a nurse before, documented filling yogurt containers full of blood.

The staff at CHEO then told me to take a hot bath at home when I peed to alleviate the pain. So I did just that. It looked and felt like a something out of a horror movie: a bathtub that seemed to filled with my own blood.

All this being said, I was warned by Rhona to never use a catheter.

I told the staff at The Royal (even though I didn't put this in my advance directive) to never use a catheter on me, even if I went in a coma (or a vaccine, virtual reality, or sign me up for digital currencies). I went as far as to put a notice on the door frame of my room.

So if for some reason I enter into a coma, please do not let the staff at The Royal put something up my penis. I could start bleeding extensively.
